Where does the taste of Amy Winehouse come from for pin-ups, rockabilly and retro?
Jane Winehouse - From an early age, Amy had very eclectic musical tastes, quite different from those of young people of her time. She loved jazz, Swing and Girls Bands of the 1950s and 1960s.She also liked to watch movies from these eras and drew the outfits she dreamed of wearing. She loved glamor, but also kitsch and often combined both.

I think this sense of style is largely inherited from her paternal grandmother, Cynthia, that Amy adored.Cynthia had a lot of clothes, shoes and jewelry and liked to hunt down and wear costume jewelry.Growing up, Amy frequented Camden and bought a lot of clothes and accessories in the vintage shops and markets in the neighborhood. She always liked the Hauts Fred Perry but liked to show her neckline; So when she drew her own models, she imagined a more plunging buttoning.
How did her fashion evolve as it became more famous?
Before Back To Black, Amy's style was much more eclectic and colorful. She mixed streetstyle with vintage pieces, and lively prints, on stage and outside. When it became more famous, Amy's silhouette started to take shape. His huge hair, her short and tight dresses and her necklines have become his trademark, and perhaps his fighting outfit to face the world. As she became better known, her outfits became more an integral part of her identity, her "costume", just like her hairstyle and her exacerbated makeup.
In 2010, we started to review the "old" Amy.She was still wearing adjusted dresses, but the colors were more lively. She seemed more relaxed and proudly wore pieces from her own Fred Perry collection. It was a period of optimism for the future of Amy, but unfortunately, it did not last long.
Can you tell me about the work done by the Amy Winehouse Foundation and how Fred Perry is involved?
We created the Amy Winehouse Foundation shortly after Amy's death in 2011.Amy adored children and her family said a charitable organization supporting children and young people was what she would have liked. We have started by granting grants, but over the years we have gradually developed our own programs.Through our resilience program, we work in schools by educating on drugs and alcohol and helping young people to be more resilient and to have better adaptation strategies rather than turn to these products in the event ofdifficulty.
We have a housing project called "Amy’s Place", which provides home to young women in the restoration of disorders related to substance abuse. Many of these women have undergone trauma in their lives, so it is a place where they can be safe, learn to be independent and live without drugs.Through our “Recovery Pathways” program, we offer support, advice and treatment to young people who have drug addiction problems.
In 2010, Amy developed its own range of clothes with Fred Perry. She was very proud of it and very much loved this collaboration. It marked the beginning of something new for her. After his disappearance, Fred Perry wanted to support the work of the Foundation. So we decided to create the collection of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which takes up a large number of the details of the first models created by Amy.We are delighted that this aspect of Amy's inheritance was able to perpetuate herself with Fred Perry, parallel to his music.
