Launch day for London Fashion Week Summer 2021 | lepetitjournal.com
London Fashion Week (LFW) is back tonight and the line-up looks spectacular. English designers will present their brand new men's and women's ready-to-wear lines for the spring summer 2022 season. For the English capital, this new fashion week also marks the return of fashion shows in the presence of the public.
London Fashion Week is one of the four major international fashion weeks. Each year, London houses demonstrate exceptional creativity and innovation, which are ever more ethical and responsible. This five-day event, which celebrates the excellence of the English design industry, is a real cultural platform for change. More than the presentation of collections, the LFW allows the British fashion industry to defend real values.
A fashion week that will be hybrid and accessible
While the last edition was 100% digital due to health restrictions, the British Fashion Council has bet, this season, on a Fashion Week that aims to be hybrid and more inclusive. From Friday September 17 to Tuesday September 21, the 105 participating designers will present their new collections during 41 physical fashion shows and 69 digital shows.
The program of digital and physical events can be found free of charge and freely on the LFW platform. This digital platform will be enhanced throughout the week with exclusive content, available to both the general public and professionals.
This is an opportunity for fashion enthusiasts to attend the shows of their favorite designers, but also to discover behind the scenes of the shows. Fashion houses are invited to share their history and their conception of fashion in different formats, through collection launches, films, podcasts, conversations and articles.
Open to everyone digitally, this edition is also intended to be inclusive both in terms of the collections that will be presented there and the models chosen to enhance them. Transgender women, veiled, disabled, young or old, plus sizes or skinny, from multiple ethnicities, the LFW intends to broaden the horizons of fashion.
The London fashion scene, known for its unpredictability and avant-garde designs, therefore has a lot to offer us this year.

A rich program despite a few absentees
Despite a program to make fashion lovers all over the world swoon, some big names in the English industry are missing . This year, no presentation of Victoria Beckham or the house of Burberry, the brand with the famous check pattern no longer sticking to the official calendar to present its collections. As for the terrible child of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood, she chose to present her creations during a digital fashion show.
Here are the dates of the physical fashion shows not to be missed:
Young designers to follow closely
This Fashion Week honors very young designers who will present their work for the first time. Among these young talents, Nensi Dojaka, winner of the LVMH 202 Prize, the competition organized by the Louis Vuitton Foundation and rewarding the most promising designers of tomorrow.
This young seamstress of Albanian origin, based in London, graduated from the famous London school of art and design Central Saint Martin. In the columns of Vogue, we learn that she began working for the brands Peter Pilotto and Fyodor Golan, before launching her own company. Her creations, which are “strong, feminine and minimalist”, and her commitment to sustainable and ethical fashion make Nensi Dojaka a designer to follow very closely.
Launch of the City-Wide Celebration to return fashion to Londoners
You have understood that this year, the challenge of fashion week goes beyond the borders of the fashion. With the health crisis, the sewing industry and the city of London have been hard hit and isolated, resulting in a burning desire to reunite with the public. For the occasion, the town hall of London and the fashion organization have collaborated to give birth to the City-Wide Celebration.
The initiative is part of Mayor of London Sadiq Kahn's Let's Do London campaign, launched to encourage visitors to return to the center of the city. This program, in place until the end of November, gives rise to a selection of varied events and activities.
Sadiq Khan said of the partnership that “London is recognized globally as a leading fashion capital. The sector's unparalleled creativity and diversity in our city will be key to contributing to social and economic recovery. Fashion employees have had an incredibly difficult 18 months, which is why I am delighted to mark the return of London Fashion Week with a celebration across the city. These celebrations will encourage Londoners and visitors to return for access to unique activities, bespoke events and to shop for exclusive clothing.”
Among the activities on offer, there is a Day of Expertise at the Christian Dior house, but also an exhibition to come and discover at Browns. Puma and Jimmy Choo have meanwhile promised exclusive gifts for any purchase made in their stores. The program and details of these activities can also be found on the London Fashion Week website.
