The 2000s biker jacket returns, did you miss it?
If the perfecto had made a remarkable comeback in the 2000s, it had since gone slightly unnoticed despite its multiple attempts to come back. But that was before.
The perfecto has long been one of the basics of the wardrobe, but it was still shunned for a time by fashion and its vagaries. Fortunately, trends are cyclical and can, a few years later, reappear!
This is the case today with this leather jacket born in New York at the end of the 1920s. Initially created by Jack Schott to protect motorcyclists from possible falls, it very quickly became a symbol of rebellion in the 1950s, when Marlon Brando made him famous through the film L'Équipée Sauvage.
Today, this iconic garment is slowly but surely making a comeback.
Already in 2021, we could see its leather details at the show co-designed by Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada. Wide shoulders, aged leather, it is no longer exactly the same as the one that was a hit a few years ago. But never mind: now, the perfecto will look more like a motorcycle jacket than a hybrid garment.
Unless it's the fashion thinkers who make it, each in their own way, a divertable and diverted garment?

An experimental twist on the perfecto
At Simone Rocha and Richard Quinn, the return of the perfecto promises to be more experimental. When the first parades an XXL biker jacket with ultra puffy sleeves to feminize the leather jacket, the second makes it more anxiety-provoking than ever by covering it with more or less sharp nails.
A diversion that remains in the vein of the history of this jacket spanning the decades by constantly modifying its codes to remain full of modernity.
When fashion decides, the interest of the buyer is activated
According to a study posted by the Lyst platform and highlighted by Who What Wear, global research inherent in the perfecto increased by 57% in the last two months. Over this same period, the percentage of searches for short leather biker jackets rose by 65%.
A very good figure which proves that the interest aroused by the trends spotted on the catwalks is always there. And even if the cold doesn't necessarily allow us to wear anything other than coats, it's a safe bet that we'll see a lot of perfectos showing up when spring arrives...
