The controversies aside, we will present below the relationship between H&M and hunting.
A bit of history…
H&M, is a Swedish multinational with a chain of stores. they are renowned for making ready-to-wear for men, women and children. Company founded in 1947 by Erling Persson. In a few figures, H&M is present in 66 countries. The brand employs over 150,000 people across 4,500 stores.
In the 1940s Erling Persson then still a young man decided to go to the United States to find ideas on the distribution of products for women. Her unique idea: Make quality women's fashion accessible.
At the end of the 1940s, Persson opened his first store near Vasteras, his home town. The store will be named Hennes which means “Hers” in Swedish. This is how the H was born.
Twenty years later, at the end of the 1960s, Persson decided, in order to extend its range, to buy the Mauritz Widforss stores, at the time a specialist in hunting and fishing, at the start of the Hennes & Mauritz (H&M). The acronym H&M is therefore the abbreviation of "Hennes och Mauritz", which means: "For them and Mauritz".
