After how many days should you change pajamas?
Reading time: 2 min - spotted on The Guardian
It seems that in adulthood, some people continue to wear pajamas to sleep. We even know who do not hesitate to put on theirs to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon.
It must be quite difficult to be an adult pajamas: no parental figure above you to order you to put yours in the dirty and to put on its own. This crucial question then arises: how often should it wash it?The Guardian looked at the issue by questioning Sally Bloomfield, director of IFH, an organization which is dedicated to the development and promotion of home hygiene.
Swimming completely in the blur, the carriers of pajamas seem not to know whether to change pajamas every day or not.According to a study conducted in 2015 on 2.500 British, the men would put their pajamas on laundry every 13 days...Against 17 days for women. It's long.
But the most annoying figures are as follows: 50% of men and 41% of women say they do not change their pajamas as long as it does not start to smell bad.Adults seem to treat this garment as children treat their comforters: it's more comforting when it is not entirely clean.
It all depends on those around them
According to Sally Bloomfield, it is completely acceptable to change pajamas once a week. The main risk that people who do it less regularly is to transmit to the person who shares their bed - see the other tenants of the home - skin infections, fungi or even fecal bacteria.Hence the following recommendation: change more regularly if you live with children or fragile people, but don't worry if you live in solo.
People who sweat a lot or those who wash in the morning rather than evening are also invited to wash their pajamas more frequently.Unless completely stopped to wear it is the best way to solve the problem, as is for example the case of Sally Bloomfield herself.
