Batch.BB Granhota, a new association near Cahors for premature babies

C’est la naissance d’une association qui œuvre pour les bébés nés un peu trop tôt… BB Granhota (petite grenouille en occitan) a vu le jour samedi 26 septembre 2020.

Historically, this is an antenna of the national association "with arm cadabra", which makes layette in sewing and knitting for premature babies.This association had antennas everywhere in France, including one in the Lot, based in Arcambal, near Cahors.For administrative reasons, and in particular to be able to request subsidies, this antenna has decided to stand on its own two feet and has become an association in its own right, whose president is the former head of the antenna, Estelle Leclerc, and theTreasurer Carine Sculfort.

More freedom to make clothes for babies

From now on, BB Granhota can therefore expand its activities and have more freedom in making baby clothes.

Volunteers, who follow various instructions to make their clothes, including a table of sizes, can now have more freedom in their creations, especially in the choice in materials, as for fabrics or little haberdashery, in order to make modelsalways more cute.

They will also be able to offer their works to premature children born but also born in the long term in households in financial difficulty.To do this, BB Granota has established a partnership with the PMI du Lot.

Thirty motivated volunteers

Thirty volunteers, from all over the lot and neighboring departments, of all ages and social profiles, therefore work to make hats, bodies, bibs, slippers ...

They do their work at home and meet once a month to show their achievements and recover supplies to create other parts.

Currently, BB Granhota offers a trousseau for each premature child born at the maternity hospital in Cahors, containing a bra, a cap, a pair of slippers, a bib, a blanket and a lange.Several times a year, the volunteers bring these trousseaux nicely stored in bags also sewn hand, at maternity, which then redistributes them to young parents.

Projects to make themselves known

The association is full of ideas to implement actions in order to make themselves known.Saturday, November 21, 2020, it should be present on the forecourt of the town hall of Cahors.

Volunteers should also hold a stand on the Arcambal Christmas market in December and plan to set up other actions to make themselves known and find funds in order to finance their equipment, in particular the tissue and haberdashery necessary for theCreation of these baby layettes.
