Sarthe: in Mézeray, three bodies of fetuses or newborns found in a garage
Three bodies of fetuses, or newborn babies, in a state of decomposition were found in the garage of a private individual in Mézeray in Sarthe. The man who made this macabre discovery just lost his wife a few days ago.
Three bodies of fetuses, or newborns, were discovered by a man who was tidying up in an annex outside his dwelling house, in Mézeray in Sarthe, south-west of Le Mans. This discovery comes a few days after the death of his wife. He had called the gendarmes for the discovery of a child's body.
Criminal identification technicians from the gendarmerie and a forensic doctor came to make the findings. They actually found the remains of three newborn babies. The remains were discovered in a locked cabinet.
The public prosecutor of Le Mans confirms this information, and adds: "The emergency services identified remains that were probably human and potentially in the state of a fetus without it being possible to determine their seniority, possibly several years earlier".
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the Flèche gendarmerie company. The technical examinations were carried out on the spot, as well as the hearings of the occupants of the accommodation and their relatives.
The public prosecutor further specifies: "The scientific investigations and particularly the autopsies which will be carried out during the day should make it possible to determine the age of the remains potentially in the state of a fetus at the time of their death as well as to identify their parents".
Our colleagues from BFM indicate that the bodies were wrapped in plastic bags, rolled up in clothes. Two kitchen knives were in the bags. For the moment it is not known whether it is a question of fetuses or infants, autopsies will have to be performed.
The couple did not appear to have children.
