A little boy with Down syndrome becomes the new face of an international brand.
Every year since 1928, American baby food and snack brand Gerber chooses a baby that best exemplifies this company's long-standing heritage. For this, Gerber launched a few weeks ago a call for applications through its social networks to find the face of their new campaign. In addition to winning the 2018 Gerber Spokesbaby title, the winner and his family will receive approximately 41,000 euros.
Lucas Warren, with Down syndrome, wins the competition
For the first time in the history of the international food brand, a child with Down syndrome becomes the muse. Lucas Warren, an adorable one-year-old boy from Georgia, will therefore be the new face of Gerber in 2018. The food brand announced on Wednesday via its Instagram account congratulating Lucas on winning the eighth edition annual Gerber Baby Photo Search.

Lucas' photo was chosen from over 140,000 entries and caught the judges' attention with his 'bright smile'. Their decision to appoint Lucas as their 2018 spokesperson proves that they are true to their intention to promote diversity, as they have done for several years now.
“Each year we choose the baby that fits our brand perfectly and this year Lucas fits perfectly.” Gerber CEO and President Bill Partyka said in a press release.
Now that Lucas is the new face of Gerber, his parents hope this opportunity will help raise awareness of the specific needs of this disability and acceptance of each other's differences. The very happy mum wants her son to be proud of him and never to be ashamed of his disability.
