Joigny: a toy and second-hand clothing store for children will open in the city center
In Joigny in Yonne, a toy and second-hand clothing store for children will open on Place Jean de Joigny on September 1, 2021. It will be managed by the association Les Petits Marioles, which wants to offer a second life to objects that too often end up in the recycling center.
From this Wednesday, the association Les Petits Marioles in Joigny is collecting toys and children's clothes, in view of the opening of its shop, place Jean de Joigny le 1er next September. You can drop off your donations at the shop on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
All types of toys have their place
In its workshop, the association has already collected dozens of toys. "There, we have a train-puzzle on which we can add elements", shows Thomas, co-founder of the association, "we have a Hello Kitty car, there at the bottom, I think it will please. We have also a lot of board games, car circuits, children's books, etc."
"In France, we throw away three hundred tons of toys a year" - Thomas, co-founder of the association Les Petits Marioles
These games and toys are sometimes neglected by children for a good reason, explains Thomas: "Some games like Lego, Duplo or Playmobil, are not necessarily complete but we keep them incomplete. And then slowly but surely, we try to complete the characters, the vehicles to try to sell them in the most complete state possible."
Repairing electronic toys, not easy
But faced with electronic breakdowns, which are very common on toys, the association intends to call on another Jovinian association. "For everything electronic, we will work with the Repair Café", specifies Thomas. "They are specialized in electronic objects, knowing that the repair of a toy, it must be done in a very safe way so that the toy can be resold to children."
