LV Pillow, the new collection of eco-responsible bags from Louis Vuitton

The LV Pillow bag collection owes its name to the popular Pillow Boots, the ultra-comfortable ankle boots that made their appearance during the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2021 show. Nicolas Ghesquière, the artistic director of the French fashion house, which this year celebrates its 200 years old, proves with these four new bags and two textile accessories that haute couture and fashion can also be sustainable.

Vuitton's ecological ambitions

Louis Vuitton has a long history as a leather goods house, but the company has never been afraid to innovate. It's no surprise, then, that the fashion house is increasingly betting on sustainability, although it unfortunately remains the exception to the rule in the high-end fashion industry.

Earlier this year, Virgil Abloh, Creative Director of Men's Collections at Vuitton, launched a circular line of men's leather goods with the Felt Line collection. All items in this collection are made of various environmentally friendly materials. Think organic cotton jacquard, recycled wool and stock 100% recycled polyester. With the Felt line, Vuitton has made its “Our Committed Journey” sustainable development program more concrete, which emphasizes the conservation of natural resources.

A sequel for women was of course inevitable. The LV Pillow collection includes a backpack, an Onthego tote, a new-look Speedy bag and a Multi-Pochette Accessories printed with the French fashion house's signature monogram.

Each piece from the LV Pillow collection has been made from ECONYL®, a unique recyclable material made from 100% recycled nylon fibers. In total, the 4 models in the collection are made of 90% environmentally friendly materials, which is unique in the world of luxury fashion.

Our favorite is the recycled nylon backpack, which would ideally serve as a pillow during our next vacation, but would protect our personal effects just as well.
