Cathia Guellati and her family lost everything this Saturday, January 8, in the fire in their apartment on Place Maurice Ravel in Remoulins. The cause of the accident is unknown. Faced with their distress, solidarity is organized, in particular a collection of clothes at the Maison des associations.

“My daughter could have been present”

Luckily, no one was in the house when the fire broke out on January 8 in the early afternoon. But her daughter should have been there. "Normally, I live alone, but for some time now my pregnant daughter has moved in with me with her sixteen-month-old daughter because she has a difficult pregnancy, she has to be bedridden," explains Cathia.

“Normally, my daughter would have been there! She is at home all the time. But this time we went shopping for the birth of her second child and we insisted that she come. what would have happened if she had stayed?" asks Cathia Guellati

It was Françoise Ruju, the neighbor, who gave the alert. Coming back from shopping, she smelled something burning, first thought of her own house, before realizing it was the house next door. She called the fire brigade: "They did a wonderful job. In ten minutes, they were there".

"Solidarity, it does not surprise me from the Remoulinois"

Cathia bounces back: "Everyone was united. The mayor, the inhabitants... Strangers contacted me to ask me if I needed something! It warms my heart, it does not surprise me to Remoulins".

As soon as he was contacted by the Remoulins neighborhood committee, the mayor, Nicolas Cartailler, reacted immediately. He launched the organization of a clothing drive the very next day, this Sunday at the Maison des associations de Remoulins.

The word was spread on social networks and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the inhabitants of Remoulins and the surrounding area came to donate clothes for adults and children.

Kayla, 10 years old came with her dad. She even thought of offering a stuffed animal and writing a little note "with hearts and drawings to give love", explains the little girl.

Some bring shoes, sweaters, sportswear. There is everything and there are many. Carine, who volunteered to collect the clothes, smiles: "It's moving to see that people feel concerned".

From now on, Cathia, her daughter and her granddaughter are looking for accommodation in Remoulins at a low price. If you have a solution to offer them, do not hesitate to write to Cathia at this email address: cathia.guellati@icloud.com.
