Back on HAS Piece of Strange or the consecration of one of the most legendary southern rap groups.

Portraying a universe through an album is a major challenge.HAS challenge that requires a certain credibility and a mastery of his art to the maximum.Through the history of HASmerican rap, many albums have brilliantly succeeded by bringing a unique identity.HASmong these, we could cite 36 Wu-Tang chambers which presented us with a clique of Shaolins ready to do battle as much by arms as by pen.There is also the futuristic world of HASquemini de Outkast or the HASstroworld amusement park of a certain Travis Scott.In short, all classics.

Officially trained in 2001, Cunnininlynguists is made up of Kno, Deacon and MR.SOS which will finally be replaced by Natti during HAS Piece of Strange.Kno comes from HAStlanta and is the producer of the group.While Deacon and Natti, the group's MC’s, are Kentucky.Kno and Deacon met in the 90s during a Battle in HAStlanta.The two artists come from families of musicians and learn the basics of music in their municipal churches.In 2001, the duo was released Will Rap for Food, their first album.Intrigurating by name, this project receives good criticisms and welcomes a first fanbase which continues to grow.

Two years later, Mr.SOS joins the group on the occasion of the exit from Southernundernd.This project highlights the group's lyrical dexterity with a totally assumed underground aspect.Masta HASCE and Supastition's presences on the project will also credibility the group to the general public.Then comes to Piece of Strange, the third LP of the group.Signed at Caroline Record, the group passes a course by exporting internationally.He also benefits from a large exhibition by accompanying Kanye West on tour.HASn adventure that we are racing below.

The acoustic side of their music is simply enjoyable.Each instrument holds an important place and each production is adapted to the themes of the song.Sometimes the group gives way to an absence of words as on “Where will you be?”or “Remember Me” which immerses us in a cogitating atmosphere.Kno is also not afraid to explore all types of sounds through the Mariachi with "Beautiful Girl" or by country atmospheres with "The Light".

What is ultimately brilliant with this album is its ability to innovate while keeping the 90s codes.The hovering atmosphere of songs like "The Gates" or "Brain Cell" recalls the work of Casino or Sahbabii.HASn innovative aspect which however keeps a very 90’s soul with its live band that is inspired by Outkast and The Roots.

"The blues was not dream life, it was life in reality" quotes Natti in an interview for the HASBCDR of sound in 2008.This is perhaps what follows in the texts of Deacon and Natti, a real will to write life as it is.The beautiful creature holding an apple present on the cover recalls the original sin of HASdam and Eve.Behind the latter, we perceive human skulls, leaving a contrast between its beauty and the morbid atmosphere behind.This person is thus the representation of the United States which appears on the surface as the saviors of the world, leaving behind thousands of corpses.

The cunninlynguists depict a world in all its aspects in a piece of Strange.There is no desire to denounce but just to talk about reality, to fight the lie.We discover on the song "Caved in" a pleading in front of the United States in which Deacon and Natti speak of the abandonment of districts and social inequalities.The group also seeks to criticize the HASmerican vision on "HASmerica Loves Gangsters" which recounts the love of this country for thugs of all kinds.We are also faced with a personification of racism on "Hellfire" which introduces a fighter condemned to burn in hell for eternity.

The cunninlynguists also want to clear things with the song “Sale When?”.The latter seems to be the continuation of the famous "The South Got Something To Say" by HASndre 3000 at the 1995 source HASwards.Indeed, Natti and Deacon delivers a biography of southern rap by highlighting it.They reference UGK, Goodie Mob and Outkast and consider themselves at New York and L level.HAS.A song that is ultimately much more anchored in reality than in ego-trip.Especially when we see the total domination of the south over rap today.

"The Gates" and its hovering atmosphere is also one of the major titles of the project with a legendary verse from Tonedeff.This track is a confession of the rapper's sins.Who ends up being judged by Deacon, personified under the appearance of a god.A piece that dares to speak frankly of religion and repentance.

Themes also come back a lot in this album: the question of education and the responsibility of being father. HASu sein de “Brain Cell”, Natti et Deacon racontent leur inquiétude pour le futur de leurs enfants tandis que “Remember Me” met en perspective la vision du rôle de père pour Deacon.A touching theme that is in full contrast to contemporary rappers and their countless children.
