For the past few months, the small village of Le Pas has benefited from a brand new service for the population: a brand new Maison d'Assistantes Maternelles.
Le Pas is a village of 540 inhabitants, between Gorron and Ambrières les Vallées. Three shops, a private school and right next door, in the former day-care centre, a new reception area for children: the MAM "A petits pas". A MAM is a "Maison d'Assistantes Maternelles". Emilie Fourmond was already working in the town, but at her home. "Here it's different because the space is entirely thought out and fitted out for the little ones, explains Emilie. I also have a colleague, and it's nice not to work alone anymore".

A model in full expansion
A model that is developing more and more, to meet the constant demand of families. "It's not easy as parents to find a means of childcare, concedes the professional. We need childminders in the sector". In Le Pas, meals are cooked on site and food waste is used to feed the chickens in the garden.
When it comes to meals, the kids do the serving. They take their plate, their cutlery, help themselves to food and water... "And without spilling, which sometimes surprises the parents" laughs Emilie Fourmond. To support their association and offer other activities to children, the two colleagues are organizing a clothing exchange on March 13 at the village hall in Le Pas.
